What is Remote Engine Start?

Remote Engine Start lets you start your engine remotely for even more convenience. Your MINI will be ready at your preferred temperature before you start your drive, with your vehicle interior heated or cooled however you like. To activate this function, simply use your vehicle key, open the MINI App on your smartphone, or set a timer in your MINI’s climate control menu.

COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURE WHEN YOU GET IN.

Would you like your MINI at a pleasant temperature as soon as you get in? Remote Engine Start makes this possible by heating or cooling the vehicle interior before you leave. A Comfort feature you’ll appreciate during summer and winter alike. This system turns on your air conditioning in the summer, and preheats your seats, steering wheel, exterior mirrors, and rear window in the winter, depending on vehicle equipment. All you have to do is start your engine before your drive. It takes around 15 minutes to reach your desired temperature. You can activate Remote Engine Start in a variety of ways. Start the engine at a distance of up to 70 metres away using your vehicle key, or open the MINI App on your smartphone. You can also use your MINI's climate control menu. This menu lets you set a departure time and the desired interior temperature.
Whether the function is available to you depends on the hardware installed in your MINI. It is already installed ex works and free of charge, depending on your vehicle, giving you even more options to configure your MINI.

    HOW IT WORKS

    You will receive an email confirmation after we check your contract. The service is then activated in your vehicle, or will be the next time you drive your MINI at the latest (some services also require manual activation in the vehicle). This process may take several minutes. If the service has not been activated by the end of your drive, please do the following:

    • Use the MINI Connected Store in your vehicle to check if it is online. To activate services, the Connected Store in your vehicle must be connected to the internet.
    • Use the MINI Connected Store in your vehicle to check if it is activated. If you see the status “In activation” for more than 3 days, please call our hotline.

    ACTIVATION INSTRUCTIONS

    Activation after purchase is quick and easy using over-the-air download:

    1. Add the Connected Upgrade to your shopping cart. Enter your payment details and confirm the purchase.
    2. You will receive an email confirmation after we check your contract.
    3. The service is then activated in your vehicle – or at the latest the next time you drive your MINI for a longer time (some services also require manual activation in the vehicle). This process may take several minutes.
    4. If the service has not been activated by the end of your drive, please do the following:
    • Use the MINI Connected Store in your vehicle to check if it is online. To activate services, the MINI Connected Store in your vehicle must be connected to the internet.
    • Use the MINI Connected Store in your vehicle to check if it is activated. If it shows the status “In activation” for more than 3 days, please contact Connected Customer Support.

    *If your vehicle has the MINI Connected Store, you can check the online status and the current activation status in your vehicle there.
